Dee Phesse has been teaching various types of exercise to music most of her adult life, having qualified when she was 39.  Now 74 she still feels the many benefits of regular exercise.  In 2017 she retrained with Age Uk, enabling her to run safe exercises for the more mature.  The general format of the group starts with simple chair exercises to warm up the joints and muscles and prepare us for the rest of the class.  Chairs will play a big part for us to hold on to for certain exercises.

Classes may include a cardiovascular section, maybe some dance movements or perhaps using stretch bands. We may finish with 15 mins of Tai Chi, which if done regularly is excellent for balance, and general wellbeing. It is mentally relaxing and physically energising. Dee teaches Qigong Shibashi – a series of 18 flowing movements, easy to learn and easy to follow.   Its quite different to the traditional Tai Chi ‘form’, which is more difficult to perform and to learn.  After that we would sit and a have a couple minutes of complete relaxation, mentally working through all the muscles, recognising any tension and letting go.

Classes will run on alternate Wednesdays for one hour from 10.30am and will be held in the United Church cost £2. Always be sure to bring water to drink.
